A three-day pilgrimage tour for the beneficiaries of the old age homes of Boomtar Namchi, Ranipool, and Tintek Lee All Sangh was successfully organised by the Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department from 31st January 2026 to 2nd February 2026 within Sikkim. The tour was arranged with the noble objective of providing spiritual enrichment, recreation, and emotional well-being to the senior citizens while also encouraging social bonding and cultural exposure. The tour was led by Ms. Jyotshna Khatiwara, Assistant Director of the department, and was accompanied by departmental officials Mr. Pem Tshering Lepcha and Mr. Gaurav Pradhan, who ensured the smooth coordination and successful conduct of the programme throughout the journey.
On the first day, 31st January 2026, the group travelled to Pelling via Ravangla, enjoying the scenic beauty, serene surroundings, and peaceful atmosphere along the route. The elderly beneficiaries were delighted by the pleasant climate and breathtaking views of the hills and valleys, making the journey both refreshing and memorable.
On the second day, 1st February 2026, the beneficiaries visited the famous Chenrezig Sky Walk and the sacred Khecheopalri Lake. The spiritual ambience of the holy lake and the magnificent experience of the Sky Walk filled the participants with joy, peace, and devotion. The visit provided an opportunity for the senior citizens to spend meaningful time together while appreciating the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Sikkim.
On the final day, 2nd February 2026, the group visited the revered Siddhesvara Dham (Char Dham) at Namchi. The pilgrims offered prayers and sought blessings for peace, good health, and prosperity. The tour concluded successfully with happy memories, strengthened friendships, and a sense of spiritual fulfilment among all the participants.
The department’s thoughtful initiative was highly appreciated by the beneficiaries, as it brought happiness, comfort, and a refreshing change to their daily lives. Such programmes play a significant role in promoting the dignity, care, and well-being of senior citizens while fostering compassion, unity, and community spirit in society.
