  • One Day Programme on standardization of Senior Care Hom

A One Day Programme on Standardization of Senior Care Home and Management was successfully conducted on 16th February 2026 at YMA Hall, Rahsi Veng, Lunglei, Mizoram. The programme was organized with the objective of enhancing the quality of care and strengthening management practices in senior care homes across the district.

The programme commenced with an introductory session, where the resource persons highlighted the growing need for structured and standardized care systems for the elderly. Emphasis was laid on ensuring dignity, safety, health care access, and emotional well-being of senior citizens residing in care institutions.

During the technical sessions, various important aspects related to the operation and management of senior care homes were discussed. Topics included infrastructure standards, hygiene and sanitation practices, nutritional requirements, record maintenance, legal and ethical responsibilities, and staff capacity building. The speakers also stressed the importance of community participation and coordination with government departments and local organizations for effective service delivery.

Interactive discussions and experience-sharing sessions enabled participants to express the challenges faced in managing senior care facilities. Practical suggestions and strategies were provided to improve administrative efficiency, caregiving skills, and monitoring mechanisms.

The programme witnessed the participation of representatives from senior care homes, community leaders, social workers, volunteers, and other stakeholders. The active involvement of participants contributed to a productive learning environment and strengthened their commitment to improving the quality of elderly care services.

The programme concluded with a summary of key recommendations and a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organizers, resource persons, and participants for their valuable contributions. The initiative is expected to contribute towards better standardization and effective management of senior care homes in Lunglei district.
