Date: 10th December, 2025

Venue: Raj Kiyekrit High School, vill.- Barhuana dist.- Jehanabad Bihar, Pin Code: 804420

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE) in collaboration with the Calcutta Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology (CMIG–RRTC) and Samagra Seva Kendra, facilitated a well-coordinated effort to promote senior citizen welfare while engaging younger generations in reflective learning. The initiative also highlighted the importance of awareness-based activities in strengthening community values and fostering social harmony. One Day Awareness and Sensitization programme on Intergenerational Bonding was organised at Rajkiyekrit Higher Secondary School, Barhauna, Jehanabad district in Bihar. Sixty-one(61)students actively participated in drawing and essay writing activities designed to deepen their understanding of the importance of meaningful connections between younger and older generations. Throughout the sessions, Resource Persons Sunil Kumar Sharma and Ajit Kumar provided valuable guidance, motivating students to think critically about the generational gaps that exist within families and communities and encouraging them to explore ways of bridging these gaps through empathy, communication and mutual respect.Students from Rajkiyekrit Higher Secondary School, Jehanabad—expressed enthusiastic appreciation for the initiative. Many highlighted that such programmes help them understand the emotional needs of senior citizens, promote compassion and improve communication with elders at home and in their neighbourhoods. The creative platforms of drawing and essay competitions allowed students to express their feelings freely, offering meaningful insights into how young people perceive ageing, caregiving and intergenerational connection.
