On 15th and 16th June, under the Seniors and Youth Connect Programme commemorating World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, awareness, interaction, and environmental activities were successfully organized at the Old Age Home, Rajsamand.
During the programme, youth participants actively interacted with elderly residents and participated in awareness sessions on the prevention of elder abuse, cyber safety, legal rights of senior citizens, available helpline services, and the importance of treating elderly persons with dignity and respect. The programme also provided an opportunity for meaningful intergenerational engagement, fostering empathy and understanding among the youth.
In addition, a tree plantation drive was conducted within the premises, in which youth volunteers and elderly residents jointly participated. The activity promoted environmental awareness, community participation, and a sense of shared responsibility towards nature.
A total of 23 participants benefited from the programme. The activities contributed to enhancing awareness among youth regarding the challenges faced by senior citizens, the welfare and protection mechanisms available for them, and the importance of environmental conservation and community service.
